Kevin Dunaj Named USCAA Academic All-American
DETROIT, Mich. — The postseason honors continued for men’s basketball when the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) released their annual awards Tuesday (Feb. 26) during the opening ceremony for the 2012-13 National Championships.
COMMITTED TO THE CLASSROOM
Before the ceremony concluded, Kevin Dunaj (Warren, Mich./Cousino) was named to the USCAA Academic All-American Team for his hard work in the classroom over the past three semesters at Marygrove. The 6’7″ sophomore received the honor by exceeding the requirements of a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA with sophomore or above academic standing.
HERE’S A FIRST
Dunaj becomes the first Mustang to achieve USCAA Academic All-American status since Dave Sichterman returned to roam the sidelines as head coach at the beginning of the 2010-11 campaign. Since the program’s inception, Sichterman has coached a cast of Mustangs that reached All-American and Academic All-American status.
IN THE BLOODLINE
Recently, Dunaj was one of approximately 40 Mustangs that received a nod on the Fall 2012 Athletic Director Honor Roll. The latest edition of the semi-annual list was comprised of student-athletes that earned a 3.25 semester GPA or higher while enrolling in a minimum of 12 credit hours. The sophomore forward was joined on the list by brother â freshman forward, Corey Dunaj (Warren, Mich./Cousino).
