Sophomores Lead Mustangs At Big Meet
ALLENDALE, Mich. — Sophomores highlighted the day for the Mustangs at the 2013 Big Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University. In the 800m, a pair of sophomores â Robert Crockett (Detroit, Mich./King) and George Jackson (Detroit, Mich./Mumford) â hit their stride to set personal bests.
Jackson continued his hot streak with an 800m time of 1:57.00. The time was good for 18th out of 65 entrants in the loaded field that would be host to NCAA Division I & II competition.
Crockett edged his previous PR in the 800m after crossing the line at 2:05.05. The sophomore’s prior top time was 2:05.28 set at the same venue â Grand Valley’s Kelly Family Sports Center.
Jalen Wilson (Detroit, Mich./CMA) finished the 200m with a time of 25.25, while Akil Prowell (Detroit, Mich./Crockett) paced his way to a 10:14 finish in the 3000m.
Next week (Feb. 16), the Mustangs will compete in their first WHAC Indoor Track & Field Championship in Angola, Ind.
