Cross Country Prepares for National Championship

Leading the charge on the women’s side is former USCAA Women’s Soccer National Champion-turned runner, Shana DeVoe (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon). The multitalented DeVoe has one of the best times in the USCAA for the women’s 5k run and is poised to make a championship push in Friday’s season-ending event. DeVoe, who also holds the school record in the 5k, paces a Mustang squad that will run out Ashley Hart (Oak Park, Mich./Oakland CC) and Shanique Maddox (Detroit, Mich./Wayne County CC) in support.

On the men’s side, junior record holder Anthony Butler (Lincoln Park, Mich./Roosevelt) leads a talented field of Mustangs into Friday’s national championship race. Highlighting the way aside Butler will be freshmen Akil Prowell (Detroit, Mich./Crockett) and Robert Crockett (Detroit, Mich./King). The pair of freshmen have plenty of upside and look to shock the USCAA community with a late burst this season.

Full recaps of the men’s and women’s events will be available on the home for Mustang athletics, www.marygrovemustangs.com. For additional championship information, please visit www.theuscaa.com.

GOOD LUCK MUSTANGS!!
