Mustangs Put Forth Team Effort at NAIA Great Lakes Invite

The 5k course was home to some of the region’s top NAIA talent and was hosted by Aquinas College.

A staple of the youthful program, junior Shana DeVoe (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon) once again led the way for the Mustangs with a 152nd place finish at 21:14. The stellar finish was good for a sub-seven minute pace. Paula Langley (Novi, Mich./Novi) donned the Mustang singlet for the first time this season and finished behind DeVoe with a time of 25:23.

Rounding out the field for the Mustangs were sophomores Shanique Maddox (27:31) and Ashley Hart (27:58), and freshman Charmaine McCray (31:43). McCray, competing in her first collegiate race, is currently readying for her freshman basketball season at Marygrove.

The Mustangs will now train for their most important race of the season on November 11th as they travel to Lake Placid, NY for the 2011 USCAA National Championship Meet. The race is sure to feature an all-star cast of small college student-athletes from across the country.
