Mustangs Battle Golden Eagles to a Draw
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-The never-say-die Mustang women’s soccer team played their way to another draw after 110 minutes of action at Cornerstone University.
This time, the Mustangs summoned another comeback as junior Kaylie Guellec (Waterford, Mich./Oakland CC) scored with 18 seconds left in regulation.
The 1-1 tie was the third draw of the season for the Mustangs as their record moves to 6-6-3. Junior goalkeeper Deanna Lints (Hazel Park, Mich./Hazel Park) played in net for the first time this season for the Mustangs. Lints would go on to finish the contest after replacing starting keeper Kristen Jolly (Livonia, Mich./Clarenceville) who left with an injury in the first half.
Janina Velasco (Sterling Heights, Mich./Warren Mott) was given the assist on the Guellec goal that sent the game into overtime.
The Mustangs are off until Thursday when they travel to Ohio to take on Ursuline College at 3:30pm. The Arrows are 8-2 on the season and haven’t allowed a goal since a match on September 16.
