Lints Inks with Mustang Soccer
DETROIT, MI–Coach Tony Williams signed his seventh student-athlete of the year on Wednesday afternoon inside the new Marygrove College Wellness Center. The signing was held on a week where campus visits and recruiting trips are heating up for Mustang soccer. Former Hazel Park Viking Deanna Lints joins high school teammate Nicole Mabee for the inaugural women’s soccer season at Marygrove.
Lints, a four year starting goalkeeper from Hazel Park, joins the Mustangs with a wealth of experience at her position. For her efforts, Lints was named All-League, All-District and Unsung Hero in 2009. She was also tabbed most valuable player in the MHYSA in 2008. The soccer star also excelled at Basketball, Track and Volleyball for four years in high school. Highlighting her devotion to the school and the athletic program, Lints was rewarded with the Athletic Directors Award for her all-around efforts. Lints grabbed varsity letters in soccer and track all four years as well.
The attitude Lints displayed on the field carried over to the classroom as well. Her list of academic awards ranged from outstanding work with student council to the principal’s list award. Moreover, the attentive student was named outstanding citizen on many occasions, as well as achieving perfect attendance during her freshman year.
Coach Williams on Lints: The addition of Deanna gives us additional strength with our goalkeepers. She will provide excellent experience for our new program because she was a four year starter. Her intensity and passion for the game of soccer will be valuable from day one. I am very excited for Deanna and our program.
