Nate Taylor Statistical Leader in the WHAC

DETROIT, Mich. –  Marygrove College men’s basketball player Nate Taylor (SR/Battle Creek, MI) leads the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) in four separate categories thus far in the 2016-17 season: Double-Doubles (15), Total Rebounds (251) and Total Defensive Rebounds (199), Average Rebounds per Game (10.46).

Taylor, the 6-foot-6 senior from Battle Creek, Michigan averages a whopping 10.46 total rebounds per game and 8.46 defensive rebounds per game. This ranks him Top 10 in three categories amongst active NAIA players: Number 3: Defensive Rebounds per Game (8.46), Number 4: Total Rebounds on this season (251), Number 8: Total Rebounds per Game (10.46).

Rebounding is not the only thing that Taylor does great. Taylor is ranked 5th in the WHAC in two more categories: Total Points Scored (418) and Average Points per Game (17.42). On the year, he has made 149 field goals, 39 three-point baskets, and sunk 81 free throws. 

Combining Taylor’s rebounding and scoring abilities give’s Taylor the most impressive stat of all, double-doubles. He has earned 17 double-doubles on the year, with 15 coming in WHAC match-ups. 

After being asked about Taylor’s performance this year, Head Coach, Craig Covington said, “Taylor is a gifted rebounder and has a knack for being able to find the ball. This helps our team because it opens up many fast break opportunities. He has been a double-double machine.”.
