Mustangs Dominate Bluffton

BLUFFTON-Ohio.  The Marygrove College women’s soccer team won their first game of the year against Bluffton University 4-0.  The Mustangs were led Saturday afternoon by Whitney Cole (FR/Westland, MI) who scored a career high (4) goals.

The Mustangs (1-3, 0-0 WHAC) led the Beavers early in the contest after Whitney Cole scored in the sixth minute.  Cole scored once again in the 22nd minute to extend the Mustangs lead to 2-0 going into halftime.

Cole would not be done scoring, she earned her third goal in the 60th minute and would score again three minutes later.  This improved the Mustangs lead to 4-0.

The Mustangs defense was lead by team captain Cayleigh Scott (SO/Westland, MI) who played goalkeeper due to an injured Melyssa Olmstead (FR/Ontario, Canada).  Scott stopped all 13 shots on goal.

The next Mustang women’s soccer game is home against the University of Saint Francis on September 14th.
