Mustangs Torched by Madonna’s Hot Shooting in 107-67 Road Loss
Marygrove led for only 1:32 of regulation as it fell to Madonna on the road by a count of 107-67. The Mustangs’ record now sits at 4-22 (4-14 WHAC).
Marygrove couldn’t contain Madonna’s hot shooting over the course of the game, as the Crusaders connected on 50 percent of their shots in the first half, followed by hitting nearly 61 percent of their attempts in the second half. Madonna was able to outscore Marygrove 40-12 in bench points and held a 56-28 advantage in points in the paint.
Isaac Gillum led the Mustangs with 16 points, to go along with four assists and two steals. Nate Taylor contributed 15 points and Diante Taylor added 13 points of his own in the loss. Marygrove trailed 51-36 at the half.
Madonna (13-13, 10-8 WHAC) was led in the scoring column by Khalil Malone, who scored 22 points, and also saw a double-double recorded by Chris Dierker, who tallied 19 points and 19 rebounds.
The Mustangs return to the hardwood on Wednesday (Feb.10) as they host Lourdes University at 8 p.m. in the Northwest Activities Center.
