BY THE NUMBERS
52:Â Senior middle hitter/blocker Alixandria Pappas has been the Mustangs’ “go-to-player” when needing a stop. Entering the week, Pappas has amassed a team-best 52 total blocks on the season off of seven solos and 45 block assists. Pappas’ 45 block assists is eight better than the next Mustang while her seven solos ties sophomore middle Paige Hughes.
4: The Mustangs earned their fourth win of the 2015 campaign after churning out a five-set victory over UNOH on Saturday (Oct. 17). With the win, the Mustangs are now 4-0 when taking a two-sets-to-none lead this season. In addition to their 4-0 record when taking a 2-0 advantage, the Mustangs hold a 4-5 record when earning a one-set-to-none edge this season.
262: Sophomore defensive specailist/libero Amber Kelly (Mt. Morris, Mich./Mt. Morris High School) has been one of the more consistent players for the Mustangs in back this season. Under the direction of fourth-year head coach Jamie Baker, Kelly has thrived in her second season in college, posting a team-leading 262 digs for a 3.16 digs per set average.
MUSTANG ROUNDUP
After posting one of the better wins â and arguably the best WHAC win â in program history, coach Baker and the Mustangs struggled to get anything going in last week’s (Oct. 21) three-set defeat at Indiana Tech. Sophomore middle/outside hitter Skylar Zeigler (Canton, Mich./Belleville High School) led the Mustangs with a balanced night of four kills and two total blocks.
SENIOR NIGHT IS NOVEMBER 4
The Mustangs will host Senior Night 2015 on Nov. 4 against Lawrence Tech. Join us after the match for a special ceremony celebrating the careers of senior class members Alixandria Pappas and Rachel Staudt. Pappas is the lone four-year senior on the 2015 roster.
BAKER NABS WIN NO. 40!
Congratulations to Jamie Baker for recording her 40th win at the collegiate level in the Mustangs’ Oct. 17 victory over UNOH. Baker is second among current Marygrove coaches in wins behind Matt Johnson (men’s soccer, 52).
STAUDT’S HISTORIC MATCH
Senior middle/outsider hitter Rachel Staudt (Novi, Mich./Lawrence Tech) tied a single-match program record with 22 kills in the five-set victory over Northwestern Ohio on Oct. 17. Staudt slammed down 22 kills on 42 attempts for an impressive .405 hitting percentage.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Mustangs are 4-0 on the season when taking a two-sets-to-none lead over their opponent and have won two-out-of-three when holding a 2-1 edge.
A LOOK AT CONCORDIA
Led by fifth-year head coach Karen Graves, the Concordia-Ann Arbor Cardinals enter the week with an even 15-15 record overall and a 5-11 mark in WHAC action. Former Marygrove standout Elizabeth Lerczak is an assistant coach for the Cardinals, helping the team compete for a WHAC playoff spot in 2015. The Cardinals are 2-0 against the Mustangs this season.
Â
A LOOK AT DAVENPORT
The Davenport Panthers swept the Mustangs earlier this season in a match played at Madonna University. Entering the week, the Panthers have posted a record of 17-16 overall and 9-7 in WHAC play. Molly Lameyer leads the Panthers with 371 kills through 33 matches played.
A LOOK AT AQUINAS
The only team to boast co-head coaches in the WHAC, the Aquinas Saints walk into this week’s action with a  17-12 overall record and an even 8-8 mark in conference action. The Saints sit two matches ahead of eighth-place UNOH.
AROUND MUSTANG ATHLETICS
Basketball season is right around the corner! The women’s basketball team tips off the 2015-16 campaign this weekend in Buffalo, N.Y. while the men’s basketball squad suits up for the first time this season on Nov. 7 at Wilberforce (Ohio).Â
