GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Marygrove women’s soccer team fell by a 14-0 tally on Saturday (Oct. 17) in Grand Rapids, Mich. to the host Davenport University Panthers. The Mustangs dropped to 0-9-0 on the season and 0-5-0 in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play with the loss while the Panthers improved their 2015 record to 5-7-1 overall with a 2-5-0 mark in league action.
The 14-goal setback marked the largest point differential in Marygrove women’s soccer history as the Panthers kept the starting lineup in late in the lopsided contest. Six of the Panthers final seven goals on the day came after the 70-minute mark and were scored by the team’s top-two scorers, Shameeka Fishley and Alayna Hilgendorf.
The Mustangs played much of the game down a player due to injuries, allowing the Panthers to capitalize on the advantage situation.
Madonna University will welcome the Mustangs to Livonia, Mich. on Wednesday (Oct. 21) for a 4 p.m. opening kick.
