DETROIT – Marygrove baseball head coach Ryan Kottke added depth to the pitching staff for the 2016 club with a commitment from Fraser High School’s Jordan Pannecouk on Thursday (May 28). Pannecouk’s signing brings Kottke’s class of 2015 commit total to eight as the Mustangs look to add to an impressive foundation heading into only the second season in program history.

The signing was the first for Marygrove baseball since March 31 when Farmington’s Joey Gignac inked a 2015-16 Letter of Intent.

Pannecouk, a 5-8 pitcher, played three seasons of varsity baseball for the Fraser Ramblers. This season, Pannecouk and the Ramblers made history by becoming the first team in more than 20 years to bring home a conference title. The Ramblers took home the 2015 Macomb Area Conference Gold championship after posting an 11-4 league record, two games ahead of Warren Woods Tower High School (9-6).

The Ramblers owned a 19-13 overall mark as of May 28.

Last year, Pannecouk burst onto the scene to earn a spot on the All-MAC honorable mention squad after a stellar season for the Ramblers.

On the club level, the crafty pitcher will play for Five-Tool Baseball this summer, one year after playing for Hitz Baseball in 2014. Prior to that, Pannecouk played four seasons with Chesterfield Rockets before playing 16U ball with the Bluewater Ambush.

COACH KOTTKE’S TAKE
“Jordan is a bulldog-type on the mound that is always looking to learn and get better,” said Kottke. “I am excited for Jordan to get into our weights and conditioning program and watch him take off more and flourish. His background and mechanics fit well into what Coach Phil Macke teaches and we look forward to him getting on the bump next year in the Green and Gold.”
