FULL 2015 SCHEDULE
DETROIT — Five days away from the first game in program history, head coach Ryan Kottke continued to build toward the future by announcing the fifth addition of the 2015 class for Marygrove baseball. On Monday (Feb. 23), the first-year skipper brought Scott Stubenrauch into the fold, announcing the Oxford High School standout as part of an already-impressive 2015 class.
Stubenrauch, a 5-7 catcher and outfielder, will enter the four-year private Detroit institution after enjoying a highly successful three-sport career at Oxford. The well-rounded student-athlete will hit the diamond for his fourth and final year on the varsity baseball squad this spring after three years on the gridiron for Oxford football and two years on the ice as a member of the school’s hockey team.
On the football field as a senior, Stubenrauch earned All-Oakland Activities Association (OAA) Red honors after racking up over 1,000 rushing yards for the 6-4 (5-2 OAA) Oxford Wildcats. The 1,000-yard campaign led to Stubenrauch’s nomination as Offensive MVP from long-time head coach Bud Rowley.
Stubenrauch has developed his baseball game at Oxford and during his time with the Rochester Rockies (10-14U), Michigan Red Sox (15-17U) and College Connect. The multi-sport athlete will continue to prep for collegiate baseball with the Connect this summer before joining the Mustangs in the fall.
COACH KOTTKE ON STUBENRAUCH
“To say Scotty is an athletic kid is quite the understatement,” said Kottke. I’m really looking forward to seeing Scott run around the outfield with the talented group that is already out there next fall. We will look for him to provide a gap-to-gap approach from the left side of the box. Add that with his speed and you have a player that will be very successful and impactful for our program for years to come. Best of luck to Scott and the Oxford team this spring.”
